Reading Seth’s blog is so inspiring ! Specially when he seems to answer why « when it’s cheap…then nothing helps ! »…
So in a recent note Seth Godin wrote, we learn (ok some of us knew it already) that price is NOT what matters :
Josh asks, « How do you turn something that is considered to be a commodity into a Purple Cow, when the lowest price is the only thing that seems to matter to customers? »
« If you tell me that price is the only thing that matters to customers, I respond that nothing about this product matters to them…
No, you can’t magically make it interesting to all. But yes, with enough effort and care, you can find those that are interested enough if what you create that they’ll choose to talk about it.
And if you can’t, go make something else. Something that people will choose to care about and talk about. »
That’s it ! I love this kind of advice that leads us to do something else.
Yes we can, because we are indeed choosing what we do, and what we want to sell. And yet, our custumers too. They decide what they find interesting, and choose what they want to buy and talk about, and this is something you can’t change… Unless you are proposing something they care about !
Make things people care about (or want) !
